5 Things to Borrow From the Library, Other Than Books

National Library Week is the first week of April!

It's National Library Week April 3 to 9, and we thought we'd take the opportunity to highlight some of the more unique items the NE Los Angeles libraries have available to check out ... other than books!


At Little Tokyo Branch Library, you can find:

Kids Takeout Kits: Bunny Hats

After picking out some great books to learn about our warmer weather animal friends, like rabbits, come visit the reference desk for a Kids Takeout Kit* to enjoy a library program experience at home. Decorate your own bunny hat. Includes paper plate bunny hat and colorful foam flower stickers. Adult help is recommended.


At libraries throughout Los Angeles, you can find:

Book Bundles To Go

Each Book Bundle To Go consists of five books based on interest level, theme or type of book. You may request a maximum of two bundles per library card.

To receive your personalized Book Bundle To Go, just fill out the form below. The library will contact you when your Book Bundle To Go is available for pickup. You will see five individual items checked out on your account. Your library account must be in good standing for your request to be filled.


At Los Angeles Public Library, you can find:

Explore L.A. with Discover & Go

Explore L.A. museums and attractions through this exciting partnership between the Los Angeles Public Library and local cultural institutions. Log in to Discover & Go with your Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) card and reserve free or low-cost passes to participating organizations.

This program is available to Los Angeles residents 18 and over with an LAPL card in good standing.


At Eagle Rock Branch Library, Echo Park Branch Library, Central Library, Exposition Park Regional Library, you can find:


Tech2Go Computer Bundles 

Tech2go Computer Bundles come equipped with a Chromebook device and an internet hotspot for long-term use. Computer bundles are available to adults with a library card in good standing. All patrons must sign a Mobile Device User Agreement upon checkout at a library location.

Tech2go Computer Bundles can be checked out at any of the following locations. Visit or call a location to check out a device or add yourself to the waiting list.


At Central Library, Echo Park Branch Library, Exposition Park Regional library, you can find:

Mobile Hotspots

The Tech2go Hotspot Loan Program provides internet access to families and households that lack these services. The mobile hotspots are easy to use and allow users to connect their laptop, tablet, and other Wi-Fi enabled devices to the internet. Patron must have a library card in good standing to participate in this program.
