Beauty without toxicity is the mantra at Primrose Organics Salon. Owner Felicia Howe opened the eco-friendly salon to offer a healthier way to color, highlight and style your hair.
I never gave hair color a second thought before I had a child. I also never had gray hair before I had a child! One thing we all learn when going through a pregnancy is that almost everything we touch is toxic. We don't want any of those chemicals near our bodies or our babies. What's a mama with wiry gray hair to do? Enter Primrose Organics Salon.
This warm and welcoming eco-friendly salon is housed in a cute bungalow in Los Feliz. I love the vintage touches. The best thing about it? It smells heavenly. You won't smell chemicals. The Primrose line of products is loaded with nourishing agents such as argan, lavender, and rosemary oils. The Organic Color Systems hair color smells like black licorice.
The skin is your largest organ (bigger than your heart and liver). If you apply chemicals to your skin including your scalp they go directly into your bloodstream, Felicia explained. Felicia started getting reactions to traditional chemical formulas and it inspired her to research and develop a healthier alternative for both her customers and stylists. You won’t find formaldehyde, sulfates, and parabens in the products used at Primrose. These chemicals are prevalent in our beauty products and are known to cause cancer and other serious health issues. I shared the salon with a pregnant stylist and another customer who is a new mom. This is a healthier environment for all of us! I feel good about this. I am impressed with Felicia's knowledge and dedication to organic products. She researches Environmental Working Group for every ingredient in her line of Primrose products. Coming soon... essential oils. I can't wait!
I look and feel 10 years younger when I leave Primrose. Shiny healthy hair just makes a difference in my whole attitude! My son tells me I'm pretty. I get a spring in my step.
